    (From Coastal Waste)
We are pleased to announce that effective Monday June 1st, we will resume curbside recycling on your regularly scheduled recycling day. This includes the City of Covington, City of Mandeville, City of Picayune, Town of Abita Springs, St. Tammany Parish Garbage District #1 and all HOA’s that we service. This does not include the City of Slidell.

As we resume curbside recycling in your area, we would like to ask everyone to please only place items that are recyclable in your recycling cart or bin. Please DO NOT place plastic bags, glass, #3 - #7 plastics with your recyclables. These items are considered residual waste. Unfortunately, any recycling cart or bin that contains items that are not recyclable will have to be left down and dumped with your garbage on your next service day for garbage. Please click on the link below to view items that are recyclable and items that are not recyclable. We also encourage you to view the infomercial to learn more about items that can be recycled and those items that can’t be recycled. https://www.ces-la.com/recycling/

Please feel free to reach out to us if you should have any questions. You can contact our Customer Service Representatives at 985-781-3171 or send us an email at info@ces-la.com . On behalf of all of our TEAM members, we would like to thank all of our customers for your patience and understanding during the past 6 weeks. The safety and health of our employees has been a top priority. We are happy to be back at almost full staff which is one of the reasons we will be able to resume curbside recycling on June 1.

You should have received a letter from the US Census Bureau with instructions on completing the 2020 census on the internet. It only took 6 minutes to complete for a family of two. This is vitally important that everyone living in Cross Gates complete the census to ensure Slidell and LA get all of the federal funds we should receive for schools, roads, and health care.

St Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper announced to Cross Gates residents in a letter that you should have received on Thursday, that a new contractor will begin providing our garbage service beginning on February 3, 2020.

Same collection days, slightly lower fees, small changes in what plastics can be recycled.

    The Parish letter says:

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CHANGES TO YOUR GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICE

Effective February 3, 2020, Coastal Environmental Services (Coastal) will begin servicing your home for the collection, transportation and disposal of residential solid waste, and separated recyclable material.

We are pleased to notify you that with this change the cost of your monthly garbage service will be decreased by 70 cents per month to $19.90, with no changes to your existing service. You will see this price decrease reflected on your February Tammany Utilities bill.

Coastal will continue with the existing schedule of solid waste pick-up twice per week (Monday and Thursday) and recyclable materials once per week (Wednesday). Please have waste curbside prior to 6:00 am. Find attached Coastal contact and service information.

Beginning January 27, 2020, Coastal will begin delivery of one (1) 96-gallon cart for solid waste and one (1) 18-gallon bin for recyclables to all customers. Please note that delivery to all customers will take several days and Coastal has indicated that all carts and bins will be delivered by February 1, 2020.

Waste Management will perform their final recycling pick up on Wednesday, January 29th and the final residential solid waste pick up on Thursday, January 30th.

We ask that you please leave Waste Management recycling bins and carts at the curb after their final pick up for recycling on Wednesday, January 29th and residential solid waste on Thursday, January 30th so that Waste Management can collect them. It will take several days for the carts to be collected so we ask for your patience and understanding during this time. If for any reason you are unable to leave your cart or bin at the curb on this day please place at the curb as soon as possible. Waste Management will be making several sweeps of the area to collect carts and bins and the collection process may take up to a week.

If you have any issues with either the pickup or delivery of new carts or bins, please contact Tammany Utilities at 985-643-1376.

Please click the links for full details and how the collection can swap should work:

    All:

I recently spoke to officials at The Advocate and The Times-Picayune newspapers and they stated that they monitored their “Do Not Throw” lists. The discussions were very positive and I believe constructive on both sides. It was clear that they didn’t want to upset the residents and still provide a necessary service.

To do so, the newspapers have an email address that citizens can send in their request to STOP delivery of the free newspaper. To do so they have to send their name and address in their email.

    The email addresses are as follows;

The Advocate is – notmc@theadvocate.com and The Times Picayune is – circulation@nola.com.

    Best regards,

    E. L. “Gene” Bellisario

Parish President Pat Brister will speak to the M.R.A. Wed., Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m. (All M.R.A. meetings are open to the public)

This is your chance to drop in, sit down, air concerns & ask questions of your parish president, without driving to a formal meeting in Covington! Topics you may want to ask about: animal control, drainage, water quality, road repair, fire hydrants, the Towers Building staying open, Safe Haven opening date, the parish budget and what is happening with that since the taxes failed?

Ms. Brister will address the M.R.A. in the usual meeting place, the cafeteria of Oak Park Village Assisted Living Center, 2200 East Gause Blvd. located just behind the vet's office. Let's have a big turn-out for her on our side of the parish. Parking is a bit limited, so get there early!

Slidell, LA – At the upcoming monthly meeting of the Military Road Alliance (M.R.A.), an umbrella organization of a dozen homeowner associations in eastern St. Tammany Parish, there will be a presentation by the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court, Melissa Henry.

The M.R.A. delegates have gone on the road over the past few months to visit the Sheriff’s Crime Lab in Slidell and the Coroner’s Forensic Lab in Lacombe.  This presentation by Henry will precede another road trip, a future visit to tour the Clerk of Court’s Office.

This meeting will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, in the cafeteria of the Live Oak Assisted Living Center, located at 2200 East Gause Blvd.

Like all other M.R.A. meetings, this one is open to the general public as well as all M.R.A. delegates. After the presentation, questions will be taken from those in attendance.

Subdivision inquiries about joining the Military Road Alliance, and questions about this and other meetings, can be directed to M.R.A. president Robert Broome, Robert.Broome@softhome.net

If any subdivision is not a current member of the M.R.A., please contact the homeowner association president about joining, and consider volunteering as an M.R.A. delegate. New homeowner association members are always welcome and can join at any time of year.

General information about the Military Road Alliance can be found on the M.R.A.’s website, http://www.militaryroadalliance.org/

This informational forum about the Clerk of Court’s Office and its functions is in line with the mission of the Military Road Alliance, which is to inform the community on issues common to all residents in the general Military Road area. These include: the ongoing work of parish offices and other public officials; issues before the St. Tammany Parish Council and Planning and Zoning Commissions; drainage and flooding concerns; road repairs; upcoming elections, parish public education issues, economic development, local real estate issues, environmental issues, and reports from the area’s state and parish elected officials.
